The photos I picked summarized my personal highlights from the trip. I loved spending time at the Waranka school and getting to interact with them on so many occasions. The glass painting was one of my favorite moments and isn’t like anything I have ever done before. I don’t really even consider myself and artistic person but enjoyed the support and guidance through the process. The flag photo was from the top of the Waranka school where we were doing the glass painting. The photo featuring Leland and Khadija shows the joy and laughter we shared with all of the Senegalese that we encountered. One of my favorite visits was the boabab tree and learning about the symbolism and significant that is behind it for Senegal. I loved being able to go inside and see how the tree hollows out as it ages. It was a unique experience and am glad that it was a part of our Senegal trip!
